Pan American Energy (PAE) closed the 2016 edition of its Health & Sports Program with a visit by Fabricio Oberto. The famous basketball player shared his experience with more than 700 children from municipal basketball schools and clubs from the Comodoro Rivadavia’s Basketball Association. He also took part in the Comodoro Solidario initiative, helping raise funds for the Regional Hospital.
During the event, held at Socio Fundadores’ basketball court, Fabricio Oberto - former NBA player and member of Argentina’s National Dream Team– shared his knowledge and interacted with children of all ages, including those in the mini category and those in Under-17 (U17), and with a group of local trainers. In his talk, Oberto highlighted the importance of effort: "If you want to be a professional basketball player, you have to work really hard and do your very best. There are no holidays, no days where the court is closed, you have to be available all the time and work all the time; that is my message to you,” he said. "Today there’s lots of technology available, lots of ways to get what you want, but it all depends on us. Maybe we think that we have to adapt this generation to the way we were with the Dream Team, to the old players. But this generation is the future. So, we have to adapt to them, so that they can understand the message and see how they can improve. The world is no longer ours, it belongs to the children and youth sitting right here, who are all eager to change and do things,” the player notedThe Head of Institutional Relations at PAE, Gastón Malbos, said, “Fabricio represents the values that we are interested in emphasizing as a company: hard work, effort, dedication and commitment. It was really good to have him with us and to be able to share this activity with all the children and youth present.”
The CSR Leader at Golfo San Jorge, Horacio Garcia, remarked, “It was a real pleasure for us to end this year in this way, working together with the Municipality of Comodoro Rivadavia, the Comodoro Deportes entity, the Regional Hospital, the Gimnasia y Esgrima Club, Comodoro Rivadavia’s Basketball Association and the Hotel and Food Service Workers’ Association, among other participating organizations.” “Fabricio’s presence was the icing on the cake of this unforgettable day for sports and for the community,” García concluded.
